Anna Newman Long's Obituary
Anna Newman Long, beloved wife, mother, and Nana, passed away on July 28, 2016 after a long and happy life. Ann was born in Dallas, TX on December 23, 1925 and grew up in Stephenville, TX. She attended Tarleton State and the University of Texas. Prior to marriage, Ann worked more than a decade for Vassarette, traveling nationwide as the Fashion Education and Training Director, where she met interesting people who became her life-long friends. Throughout her life, Ann was active in the Richardson Woman’s Club, as well as women’s various book clubs and Bible Studies. She loved traveling and spending time with her loved ones. Ann married the love of her life, John C. Long III, in May of 1957. They lived in Richardson, TX for over fifty happy years of marriage and raised four children together. Outgoing and friendly, Ann never met a stranger. No matter where she went, she always seemed to run into someone she knew. She will be remembered for her positivity and her loving kindness. Ann is preceded in death by her husband John C. Long III; son John C. Long IV; daughter-in-law Cindy Fitz Long; and brother David Newman. She is survived by her children Linda Long Mims, Paul D. Long, Nancy C. Long; daughter-in-law Susan Waskom Long; and grandchildren Chris Long, Cory Long and wife Paige, Jennifer Long, John (J.) Mims and wife Merideth, Rebekah Long, Elizabeth Mims, John C. Long V (Clark), and Margaret Mims. We celebrated her life on July 29, 2016 with a small family service at Restland Funeral Home.
