Anna Jo Reagan's Obituary
Anna Jo Thornton Reagan died in Mesquite on Friday, January 5, 2024. Born in Kerens, Texas on July 31, 1926 to John Daris (J. D.) and Lottie V. McKinney Thornton, Jo would spend her early years growing up with her older sister and brother next door to her paternal grandparents. A graduate of Kerens High School, she later attended North Texas State Teachers College.
Following her marriage to Philip W. Reagan on September 7, 1947, Jo became a secretary, homemaker and mother to two sons. She later became a teacher in the Richardson ISD, working with special needs students at Forest Meadow, Lake Highlands and Richardson West Junior Highs for about twenty-five years before retirement. She conducted the pilot program for Special Education in secondary schools in Texas. A longtime member of Garland Road Church of Christ, Jo and her family moved with the congregation to help establish the Highland Oaks Church of Christ.
Mrs. Reagan was preceded in death by husband Philip W. Reagan, son Ronald P. Reagan, parents Daris and Lottie Thornton, sister Ellen Thornton Tanner (Rex), brother Luke M. Thornton (Priscilla) and nephew Don Tanner.
Survivors left to cherish her memory are son John Chris Reagan, wife Cenith, granddaughters Sandrea, Chaquowa, and Ashley, Kathy Reagan (Ron’s wife), Candace Reagan Velazquez, grandsons Clint Reagan and Cole Reagan, great-grandson Andrew, great-granddaughter Evelyn, nieces Cynthia Thornton, Sidney Jenkins Lofton, Rexann Tanner, Lori Tanner Richardson and Gay Jenkins Hylan, nephew Mark Thornton, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 12, 2024 at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Highland Oaks Church of Christ, 9400 Plano Road, Dallas, TX 75238.

Burial and graveside services will occur at 3:00 p.m. in the Military II Garden on Friday, January 19, 2024 at Restland Cemetery, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243.
