Anne J. Austin's Obituary
Anne Jeanne Austin died July 29th at her home in Murphy, TX. She was 88. Born in Beloit, Wisconsin, the former Anne Condon, spent most of her youth in Janesville, Wisconsin. Mrs. Austin was an accomplished clarinetist and received a $100 scholarship from Valparaiso University to play in the orchestra. She enrolled as a business major. Prior to her marriage to Robert W. Austin, she worked for the Parker Pen Company. After marriage, they moved to Madison, Wisconsin. They subsequently relocated to Buffalo, New York. In 1975 they established their final home in Murphy, Texas. Her husband of 63 years died in 2012. Mrs. Austin was an avid reader & loved to collect pretty things. She was also a great nature lover. She enjoyed watching butterflies, birds, squirrels and rabbits playing in her backyard. She liked gazing at and identifying hidden shapes in the clouds. She had a green thumb and had a significant collection of houseplants. She was known for the sparkle in her eyes, warm smile and wonderful sense of humor. In her waning years, her daughter and caregivers often remarked on her sweet disposition, caring attitude, her feistiness and the fact that she was “one tough cookie”. She passed away peacefully, facing the back yard and the animals and birds she so loved to watch. Survivors include three children, Roberta (Steven) Constantinides, Stephen (Catherine) Austin, and Deborah (John) Totter; and three grandsons, Daniel R. Austin, Stephen J. Austin and Jacob Constantinides.. Visitation will be Tues 6-8 pm at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243, where services will be held Wed at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Arthritis Foundation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
