Anne Stites' Obituary
STITES, ANNE of Dallas died peacefully Tuesday, May 27,2014, at Sunrise at Hillcrest. Anne had lived in Dallas since 1960 and was a long-time member of Park Cities Baptist Church. Born in Norman, Oklahoma, Anne grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and returned to Norman to follow her parents in attending Oklahoma University, where she was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate as her mother had been. After college Anne married Joe Stites, her beloved husband of sixty-six years, who predeceased her in 2012. Anne’s career was as a wife, mother, and homemaker, a job she was passionate about and from which she never retired. For many years Anne was involved in numerous women’s organizations, including AAUW, Newcomers’ Club, several book and bridge clubs, and DAR. Anne loved reading, bridge, piano, and history, especially English history, but her husband and family most of all. Anne is survived by her children, Marggi Monsees, Stevvi Cook, Tom Stites, and Rob Stites; grandchildren, Sarah Stites, Kathryn Monsees, Meredith Stites, Worth Anne Herrell, Kevin Monsees, Ted Stanley, Steven Stites and Frank Prochaska; five great-grandsons; and brother, Rob Elmore. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 30, 2014 at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Dallas Chapter.
