Anne Marie Wiest's Obituary
Anne Marie (Balik) Wiest, age 84, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2019 at home in Richardson, TX. Anne was born on July 26, 1935, the daughter of Louis and Helen (Puffer) Balik in Spillville, IA.Anne attended schools in the Spillville area and while growing up, she worked at Bily Clock Museum, Hogan Store, and the local post office. After graduating high school, she met Linus R. Wiest and shortly after, he served a tour of duty overseas. Once he returned, they got married on October 22, 1955 at The St. Wenceslaus Church. Linus and Anne resided in Iowa City and Cedar Rapids, where they began to expand their family with their first three children, Alan, Brian, and Kevin. Then in 1960, Linus was transferred with his job to Richardson, TX and where their family continued to grow with three more children, Michele, Carolyn, and Kristi. Anne was employed by Equifax, for a number of years, when the kids got older. Anne was passionate about spending time with her family, gardening, and baking delicious treats. She was known for her unique rhubarb desserts and “angel crisp” sugar cookies. Anne was a devoted Catholic and a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church for 59 years, serving as an Eucharistic Minister and a member of The Women’s Guild. Anne Marie Wiest will be sincerely missed by her loving family, her devoted friends and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved her.Anne is survived by her three sons, Alan Wiest, Brian Wiest and wife Tracey, and Kevin Wiest; daughters, Michele Wiest, Carolyn (Wiest) Matus and husband Michael, and Kristi (Wiest) Martin and husband Travis; grandchildren, Ryan, Nicole, Kirsten, Collin, Adam, Kelsey, Ryan; great-granddaughter, Bryer. Anne is also survived by her best friend and sister, Lorraine Bily, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, John and Pat Wiest and sister in laws Betty Balik and Mary Jean Balik..Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Linus Wiest, her parents, Louis and Helen Balik, her two sisters, Genevieve Pesek and Emilie Moudry, four brothers George Balik, Edward Balik, Louis Balik Jr., Wenceslaus Jim Balik, and brother and sister-in-law, Melvin and Dorothy Wiest.Visitation will be held at 6-8pm Friday, September 6, 2019 with recitation of the Holy Rosary by Father Temo at 7pm at Restland Memorial located 13005 Greenville Ave. Dallas, Tx, 75243. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 10am at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church and graveside services to follow at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery.The family request memorials be made in her name to: St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church 720 S.
