Annette "Mema" Davis' Obituary
Annette Willcoxon Davis gently passed into eternity on April 24th, 2026 and entered into the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ, her parents, and her beloved husband Frank. Today, Frank and Annette are waltzing together on streets of gold in perfect health and peace.
Annette (“Mema”) was born in Tuskegee, AL to Edward and Annie Lee Willcoxon on August 4th, 1939. During her early years she loved and experienced the arts such as painting, music, drama, symphony, and especially theater. Eventually, she directed her efforts into education at Auburn University there she met a tall, brilliant future engineer named Frank Davis. They were immediately smitten with each other and married. Thus began a life of shared adventures rich with professional challenges, world travel, and the joys of family life. Annette earned a reputation for squeezing every drop of life from each moment. Frank and Annette toured the world experiencing each ports’ culture and sights. Their journey began in Alabama, but quick moved the Southern California and settled in Texas.
Annette’s passion for the arts was only eclipsed by the joys of family and friends. Annette founded many women’s groups that numbered into the hundreds. Her drive provided energy and excitement that magnetically drew people of like mind to join community functions that promoted arts, reading, and community awareness.
However, Annette and Frank had space within their home for another member of their family when Lara Lee Davis came into their lives on August 4th, 1967 (Annette’s Birthday). This little girl changed everything…quickly becoming the apple of Annette and Frank’s eyes. Be it sports, band, modeling Annette was present supporting her daughter’s efforts. Nothing exemplified her deep love for Lara Lee more than when Annette bought Lara Lee’s first horse. Little did she know that this would become Lara Lee’s lifelong passion. Annette saw the love and joy horses brought into her daughter’s life and wanted to be part of it.
Lara Lee would get married and bless Annette and Frank with three grandchildren. Soon “Mema” would become ingrained with Lara Lee and Mike (Lara Lee’s husband) as well as Alexandra (35), Erin (30) and Michael (23).
Once again, “Mema” was certain to be part of her grandchildren’s every facet of life…sports, academic competitions, hunting and fishing and of course team roping. Even when the military moved the family to Okinawa, Japan…Annette would travel to be with them twice during their three-year tour. She was one tough and determined Mema.
Annette will be missed by those whose lives were touched and even changed a bit through her love, kindness, and generosity. We are comforted that her faith in our Lord Jesus Christ tells us that she is in His presence now along with those who went before. A Memorial Service will be held in her honor at Spring Valley United Methodist Church on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at 10:00 am.
