Annette Riggs' Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce our beloved family matriarch Annette Riggs passed away peacefully at her North Texas home in late February 2021.
Annette was a real Southern beauty, inside and out. She had an effervescent personality and a tender heart that people admired and appreciated. Though she experienced many hardships and painful losses during her 80 years, she maintained a deep faith in God and chose to always look at the sunny side of life through rose-colored glasses.
We could always count on her to make us laugh, to pass along a favorite recipe or cook us a fabulous meal. We did, however, learn to be wary of her homegrown “hybrid” hot peppers. Some of us are still feeling the effects years later. Annette enjoyed blasting our inboxes with all kinds of “interesting” emails and her staunch political views and her brutally honest opinions landed her in Facebook jail on a regular basis. She also had a wicked sense of humor and could tell an off-color joke in the most lady-like manner. She was funny. She was feisty. And she loved people with abandon. Especially our 45th president Donald Trump.
Annette loved all genres of music too -– and the louder the better. When she learned how to find her favorite songs on YouTube, it was like hitting the jackpot – another favorite activity of hers. She often blasted music throughout her home and was known to turn any floor into a dance floor. One of her happiest moments was “cutting a rug” at her Roaring ‘20s birthday party last year, dressed to the nines as a flapper, surrounded by party guests whom she insisted also wear costumes. It was, she said, one of her best nights ever. And it is a memory we will always treasure. When we hear, “Don’t Mess with my Toot Toot,” we will always see her laughing and kicking up her little gold high heels.
Annette was such a bright light in our big family and she will be dearly missed. She was a wonderful wife, mother, Granny Mom, sister, aunt, daughter and friend. Everyone who knew and loved her will never forget her endearing spirit.
May she rest in peace with our Lord and Savior until we meet again.
She is survived by her son, Mark Estes; her grandchildren Mindy Estes (Paul Saucedo), Tiffinee Williams (Nick Williamson), Ashley (Steven) Arenas and Michael Wright; her great grandchildren Nevaeh Bueno, Angel Estes, Sarah Saucedo, Karma Saucedo, Raiden Saucedo, Emma Arenas, Roman Arenas, Anthony Arenas and Easton Williamson; brother Mac (Ruby) Aldridge; brother Curt (Sheron) Aldridge; sister Joyce Raney; brother Ronnie (Laura) Aldridge; sister Teresa (Billy) Jones; brother Mike (Michelle) Hodges; and dozens of adoring nieces and nephews.
Annette was predeceased by her loving husband Billy Joe Riggs; her daughter Sandy Estes; her newborn twin sons; her siblings Annie Gayra Aldridge, Dale Aldridge, Doris Franks, Ellen Aldridge and Sue Martin; and her parents, Willie and Annie Aldridge.
A Celebration of Annette’s Life will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday, March 6, at Restland Memorial Chapel in Dallas, TX. Visitation will be held prior to
