Neal, your dad, Bo rode to work with me when we both worked at Sterling’s Jewelry in downtown Dallas. I have fond memories of both your Mom and Dad. Your Mom always had a smile on her face and your Dad spoke of you both with so much love.
Aunt Annie Marie was a critical part of my life. I remember visits when I would find comfort in her relationship with my mom. They talked seriously, laughed freely, and loved unconditionally as sisters do. When she visited our home there was an extra level of peace simply by her presence. My parents were very pleased with her marriage to Uncle Bo. I enjoyed listening to my dad talking with Uncle Bo as they discussed food, space travel, Annie Marie, and seemingly mundane events of life that give relationships meaning. After Uncle Bo’s untimely death, I saw Annie Marie’s love for Neal, her faith, and willingness to be there for others help her live well even within her grief. Once, during a particularly rough patch of my life in about 1980 my toddler son and I rode with her and Neal from Austin to Dallas. We talked about things that mattered. She mentored me that day with understanding but clear responses to my confusion and fears. I felt loved and safe. I always did with her. My dad once told her, when they all lived at St. Francis Village, how well she did with raising Neal. Dad noted how Neal’s life reflects the important values, service for others, and love she modeled. I agree. Her legacy continues in him and his family. We miss you, Aunt Annie Marie. Thank you for your love.
Neal,
Your mother touched many lives and I have always treasured that we shared the same birthday. She showed the Bowen children that Sisters were real people and that we could learn a great deal from them. Annie Marie demonstrated great courage and humor in her life. The world is a better place because she was in it. Our aunt will be sorely missed. She also taught her son the courage and humor.

Annie Marie was a wonderful Aunt -always loving, thoughtful, attentive and caring. Her insightful intelligence, humor, and empathy for all made the world a better place for all of us who were lucky enough to walk part of our paths with her. Neal, l am with you in this time even though l cannot be there physically. Lots of love and hope for peace and contentment that you were such an exemplary son.
