Annie Marie Maranto's Obituary
Annie Marie Maranto, 92, of Garland, Texas, died September 27, 2019 in Keller, Texas of Alzheimer’s/Dementia. She was born, November 20, 1926, to Neal Edward Plemmons and Annie Josephine Condon in Charleston, Mississippi. She married Anthony Cosmos Maranto on June 15, 1965 in Richardson, Texas. She was an Elementary Education Teacher in Garland ISD for 23 years.Born in Mississippi, she grew up in Beaumont, Texas. Annie graduated from St. Anthony’s High School in Beaumont in 1943. She earned a degree in Chemistry from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio. She entered the Convent as a Dominican Sister and taught at Saint Anthony’s High School in Beaumont, where she made many life long friends among her students. She obtained release from her vows as a sister in 1965 and met the love of her life, Anthony Cosmos Maranto, known as “Bo”. They were married in 1965 and lived in Garland, Texas. They soon welcomed a son, Neal. Bo passed away in 1973.While raising Neal herself, Annie touched thousands of students both at Good Shepherd School where she worked as a librarian, and in the Garland Public Schools where she taught elementary education. Annie remained in Garland until she retired in 1995 when she moved to St. Francis Village in Crowley, Texas. She thoroughly enjoyed the community at St. Francis Village until 2007 when Alzheimer’s forced her to move to assisted living. She lived a full life in devotion to Jesus Christ and to her family. I Love You, Mom.Annie is survived by her son Anthony Neal Maranto and wife Shawne Maranto of Arlington, sister, Jo Clemens, of Meker, Oklahoma, grandchildren, Marina Maranto and Mallory Merryman.Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at 10:30 a.m at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 600 S. Jupiter Road, Richardson, TX 75081. Burial will be at Calvary Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Restland Funeral Home from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m..
