She was widely known and loved for her extraordinary ability to make a can of green beans taste as if they had just come from the field. Her culinary skills and warm presence were thoroughly missed by the children and their families at the Day Care upon her retirement.
Some of Annie's favorite things included Coke, chocolate, gravy and biscuits, chocolate glazed donuts, red beans and cornbread, and the Gurley family reunion fish fry.
Her loved ones hold cherished memories of celebrating her 80th birthday in 2015, Christmases filled with toys when the boys were little, road trips to Ada, Oklahoma to visit grandparents and cousins, Easter Sundays with new church clothes and memorable services, Mom making log candy, and her cooking fried chicken livers.
Annie was always there for her children, from cooking meals for them when they moved out on their own to helping care for her ex-husband when he was sick, even though they were divorced. Her presence will be missed, but her love and memories will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
