Anthony Robert Lovgren's Obituary
On Sunday, January 22nd, Anthony Lovgren, a loved son, brother, husband, and father, passed away at age fifty-one. Born to Rob and Diann Lovgren on January 24th 1971, Anthony was raised in Garland, Texas, alongside his sister, Stephanie. Growing up, he found he had an aptitude for mechanics and put it to use, whether working on roller blades, modifying his BMX bike to give him a competitive edge in his races, or finding some other toy with wheels he could make faster. As Anthony got older, his passion shifted towards a love for cars. He graduated from Garland Highschool in 1989 and went on to earn his Mechanical Engineering degree while working full-time.
Anthony continued to pursue his interest during his career at Navistar Inc. as a Mechanical Engineer, where he showcased his gift for innovation and resilience. He was always willing to lend a hand, whether it was related to building and restoring custom cars, handyman tasks, or simply being a shoulder to lean on for family and friends.
Although known for his love of cars, nothing compares to the love he had for his two daughters. Embracing the role of being a girl-dad to Ashley and Faith, he never failed to go above and beyond for his girls and taught them what it means to be hard-working, goofy, and caring.
Anthony met his bride, Jennifer, at Lowes, where he swept her off her feet unexpectedly. After some time, the two married and brought their families together under one roof in Forney, Texas. They shared many memories while traveling to several states, cruising in his self-built Chevelle, and enjoying drive-in dates at Keller's.
You often saw Anthony with a silly face or showing off his wild dance moves. Without question, he had a way of making strangers into lifelong friends through the car community, his generous nature, and being an all-around gentle giant. Anthony was an active member of the Old School Backhalf, where he raced on the weekends and supported other drivers. If he was not at the track, he was working in his shop, participating in car shows, or cruising the highways with the Dallas Street Machines.
Anthony loved a lot in his life. His family, his friends, and all of his unique hobbies. He loved to grill (almost as much as he loved to eat). He was an avid Candy Crush player, professional napper, and hard bargainer. To know Anthony was to love him or to be asked, "what're ya doing?"
He is survived by his parents, Robert and Diann Lovgren. His two daughters, Ashley and Faith Lovgren. His wife, Jennifer Lovgren, and his step-children, Sophia and Nathaniel Sanchez. His sister and her family, Stephanie, Dave, Jessica Couron, as well as Amber and Errol Russell. His grandmother, Jean “Gigi” Rothlisberger. His four legged-friends, Gizmo, Pepper, Clifford, and Rico. Predeceased by his late wife, Tanya Michelle Lovgren, and children, Anthony Jr. and Emily Lovgren.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, January 28th, from 5-8 PM and the Memorial Service on January 29th at 2 PM at Restland Funeral Home located at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243.
In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to the family (Venmo @Jennifer-Lovgren12) or The American Stroke Association at www.stroke.org.
