Anthony "Tony" Marvin Huizinga's Obituary
Anthony “Tony” Marvin Huizinga, 70, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Thursday morning, January 26, 2017. He had been courageously battling Parkinson’s and had recently been diagnosed with lung cancer. Anthony was born May 15, 1946 in Oaklawn, Illinois to Nellie (Bekker) and Richard Huizinga. He graduated from Fulton Community High School in 1964 and from Missouri State University in 1968. He served in the Army for 2 years during the Vietnam War as a Surgical Tech in the hospital in Okinawa. Anthony was employed at Guardian Packaging for over 20 years in Sales and Quality Assurance. Anthony was preceded in death by his mother and father, his first wife of over 38 years, Barbara Jean (Schroeder), his identical twin brother, Marvin Anthony Huizinga, and step-son Gary Goodwin. Anthony is survived by his wife, Mary (Thompson) Cowart Huizinga of 8 years, and sons Todd Anthony Huizinga and his wife Mary (Bell), and Dr. Timothy Ryan Huizinga and his partner Burt Barber, brother Richard John Huizinga and his wife Shari (Damhoff), his grandchildren Austin and Parker, step-grandchildren Amber and Tanner Goodwin, and Amanda (Goodwin) Mullins and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. There will be a visitation on Monday, January 30, 2017 from 6:00 until 800 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 3:00 pm at the Wildwood Chapel located at Restland Memorial Park with a reception to follow in the Reception Hall at Restland. Anthony was a faithful servant of God, loving father, devoted husband, dearly loved grandfather “Papa”, and friend to all. He will be dearly missed.
