Anthony Nguyen's Obituary
Anthony Nguyen passed away peacefully on November 11, 2024, ten days after his 86th birthday. He was born in Hue, Vietnam, known as the old imperial city and capital city of Vietnam on November 1, 1938. He was the youngest of seven children.
He graduated from ‘Bo Binh Thu Duc’ Military Academy and became a military officer in the Republic of South Vietnam Military, allied forces to United States Military occupation. He rose to the military position of Major overseeing strategic operations.
In 1964, he married his sweetheart, Margaret Doan, and moved to Saigon to continue his military service. Anthony and Margaret raised three beautiful children over the span of 60 years. After the fall of South Vietnam, he suffered 10 years as a military prisoner of war to the communist regime. He was released from prison only to endure the new reality of a post war era. In 1993, he immigrated to the United States of America to start a new life in St. Louis, Missouri.
In his retirement years, he moved to Rowlett, Texas, with his eldest son. He was a generous soul with a strong work ethic and high level of intellectuality. He loved to read, write, and enjoy the outdoors. You could find him jovially challenging others in a good game of chess.
Anthony is survived by his wife and children: Maragaret Doan, Quan Trong, Kieu Vuong, and Nam Tuoc; Grandsons: Anh Khoa, Danny, and Levi (Hoang Nam); Grand daughters: Isabella and Leilani Mina (Hoang Anh) whom he adored and cherished. He also leaves behind a legacy of friendship with other veterans that survived the Pre and Post Vietnam War era. These friendships spanned decades over Anthony’s time in the St. Louis and Rowlett.
Anthony’s legacy will live on through his family and all those whose lives he has touched and for the service of his country and countrymen
