Anthony Charles Vaughn's Obituary
Anthony “Tony” Vaughn was born on October 28, 1960 in Deposit, Al. He departed this life on October 29, 2017 at Methodist Hospital in Richardson, TX. He was preceded in death by his mother, Velma Drake Miller and father, Chico Vaughn. Tony confessed hope in Christ at an early age at Morning Star M.B. Church. He is a member of One Community Church in Plano, TX.Tony graduated from Buckhorn High School in New Market, AL in 1979. He attended Bethel College and University of Alabama – Huntsville. He served in the US Army, successfully completed Ranger school and received numerous medals, badges and commendations. He retired from the Texas State National Guard in 2005.Tony never met a stranger. He was always willing to lend a listening ear and was resourceful in providing advice or help to others. He had a servant’s heart with a passion for cooking and found joy in preparing meals for his extended family. He was affectionately referred to as “Mr. Tony” by neighbor children and their parents. He ensured there was always a unique spin and much laughter whenever neighbors, friends or family gathered together, whether sharing a life story, a tall tale or demonstrating some bizarre activity. Tony was energized when others smiled. He will be missed. But, we are confident that we will be together again in God’s time.He leaves to cherish his memory; a loving wife of 29 years, Nelda Daniel Vaughn; two children, son, Jared Anthony and daughter, Karee’ Alexandria both of Allen, TX; a brother, Stanley Miller of Deposit, Al; a devoted aunt, Ozell Jones and a special mother-in-law, Laura Daniel both of Huntsville, AL; 2 brothers-in-law, Jesse (Patricia) Daniel of Plano, TX and John Nelson of Huntsville, AL; a sister-in-law, Faye Daniel Nelson of Huntsville, AL; four nieces, Elise Miller of Nashville, TN, Latori (Haskell) Abii of Plano, TX, Leya (Vic) Gurley of Huntsville, AL and Stacy (Wilton) McCray of Grand Prairie, TX; 2 nephews, Ryan Nelson of Huntsville, AL and Michael Daniel of Plano, TX; Special cousins and their families, John (Angela) Jones and children Josh and Jonna of Huntsville, AL and Nicara (Corwin) Partlow and son Carsen of Atlanta, GA; five great- nephews, 4 great-nieces and a HOST of other relatives and friends.The family request that visiting hours be observed at Restland Funeral Home in the Memorial Chapel from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Wednesday, November 1, 2017. He will be laid to rest at a later date at Valley View Memorial Gardens in Meridianville, Alabama.Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
