Antonio Barrera Duron's Obituary
Antonio B. Duron
Born January 11, 1932 in Waco, Texas to Julia and Fabian Duron.
Antonio grew up during the Depression and WWII era.
His family was very active in the Catholic Community and attended St. Francis Catholic Church. As a result Antonio was able to also attend Catholic School, where he thrived in his studies, especially math and science.
At a young age he started working with his father Fabian in their family construction business. Antonio helped with bids and proposals, because he was good at calculating supplies.
Between school, church, and work, Antonio would get together with other boys around Waco, and play baseball. This camaraderie of friends organizing games would later develop into what is currently called the Waco Mission.
Antonio was ambitious, and always believed in hard work to get ahead in life. He graduated a year early from high school to start his career with Sears & Roebuck in Galveston, Texas.
Antonio would soon travel to Dallas to enlist in the Air Force, where he served as a Control Tower Operator (CTO) at White Sands Proving Grounds during the Korean War.
After the war, Antonio enrolled at Baylor University in Waco, TX.
During his time at Baylor, Antonio met his future wife, and mother to his children, Mary Aleman.
They were married on January 25, 1958, and began their life journey of 64 years together.
Eventually they moved to Dallas where career opportunities were available and started their family. Antonio retired from Sears after 20 years to start a family business in data processing with his wife Mary.
Together they created a successful small business which provided for their family for years.
Ultimately Antonio retired as a Systems Analyst for Steere Tank Lines, where Mary also worked alongside him as well.
During his life Antonio enjoyed remodeling, and gardening because it reminded him of his youth and working with his father.
He coached baseball, and football for both of his sons’ teams. He enjoyed golfing, and was an active member in the PAGA for many years.
For several years Antonio dedicated his time and talent to serve with the Knights of Columbus, where he held the office of Faithful Navigator and participated as a member of their Fourth Degree Color Corp.
Antonio has been blessed to spend his last years at his beautifully remodeled home.
On Saturday August 20, 2022, he was able to pass peacefully in comfort with his family at his side.
Antonio B. Duron was the eldest male in a large family with 6 siblings. He was preceded in death by all except for one surviving brother, Alex Duron.
To cherish his memory,
Antonio leaves his loving wife Mary, daughter Lydia, and sons Kenneth and Patrick.
