Archie John Kountz's Obituary
Archie John Kountz, age 66, went home to Jesus on December 26, 2021, after spending a special week with his family.
Archie was born in Big Spring, TX to Lucille and “Jack” John Henry Geyer Kountz, Jr. on April 16, 1955. He married Cinda Lea Nickelson on December 4, 1976. Archie had a heart for service and served on numerous boards over the years, where he derived great joy from improving the lives of others. He retired in 2020 and was always ready to spend time with his sons and their families, especially if it included hunting, fishing, traveling or activities with his grandchildren. Most evenings you could find Archie sitting on his patio, grilling food and sipping a drink with his faithful four-legged companion, Zoey. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning, but his favorite part was sharing the fruits of his labor with others.
Archie’s presence could light up a room. He had a way of making friends with anyone he met. Those that knew Archie loved him, and once you met him you could never forget him. His laugh was hearty and warming, and his smile had a way of spreading to all who saw it.
His calming presence, smile and famous hugs will be missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Cindy; his children: John Kountz and his wife, Ana; Adam Kountz and his wife Julie; Ryan Kountz and Mikayla Garvey; and his grandchildren Scarlett and Jack. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Gene Nickelson, sister-in-laws: Cathy Govert and Rita Talarico; 7 nieces and 2 nephews and three cousins.
Archie was preceded in death by his parents Lucille and Jack Kountz.
The family held a private memorial service in Dallas, Texas last week with James Talarico officiating.
His family asks that in lieu of plants or flowers, donations be made to your favorite charity. To donate to a cause important to Archie, please make a donation to the Samaritan’s Purse for tornado victims in Kentucky or Open Door in Lubbock, TX in his memory.
Funeral arrangements for Archie John Kountz have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
