Archie Ranerth Syverson's Obituary
With profound love and gratitude for a life beautifully lived, the family of Archie Ranerth Syverson announces his peaceful passing at the remarkable age of 100.
Archie was born on August 5, 1925, in Ulen, Minnesota, and raised on his family's farm first settled by his grandfather, Reir Syverson in the late 1800s.
After graduating from high school, Archie answered the call to serve his country. He joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1944 to 1946 in Guam during World War II, an experience that strengthened his character and sense of duty.
Upon returning home, Archie attended the University of Minnesota, where he earned a degree in agriculture and agronomy. it was during these years he met the love of his life, Fern, who became his devoted wife and partner for 76 wonderful years. Their marriage was a model of steadfast commitment, mutual respect, and enduring love. He and Fern had three children Steven, Cathleen, and Cheryl.
Archie enjoyed an impressive 41-year career with American Cyanamid, beginning as a sales representative and rising to district sales manager, overseeing sales representatives across the United Sates. He retired at the age of 64, remembered by colleagues and friends for his integrity, leadership, and dedication.
A man of many passions, Archie built beautiful furniture by hand, read his Bible faithfully and kept himself thoroughly informed on current politics. A lover of history, he amassed a personal library of more than 1,300 books and never passed a historical marker, battlefield, or fort without stopping to learn something new. Whether traveling for business or family vacations, his curiosity and love of learning enriched every journey.
Above all else, Archie was a man of deep Christian faith. He and Fern attended Plano Bible Chapel for many years, made many friends and enjoyed fellowship with the Lord. He lived his beliefs with sincerity and humility, setting an example for those around him through his kindness, generosity, and unwavering moral compass. His family was his greatest joy, and he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, always steadfast, always loving and always present.
Archie leaves behind his children: Steven (Nancy) Syverson, Cathleen (Dan) Dansby and Cheryl (Tom) Spriggs.
Grandchildren: Shannon (Richard) Hazen, Clinton (Jessica) Dansby, Russell (Hillary) Syverson, Matthew (Jennifer) Syverson, and Thomas Spriggs.
Great grandchildren: Hailey Hazen, Walker Hazen, Kennedy Syverson, Sydney Dansby, Caden Dansby, Isabella Syverson, Drake Syverson, Wyatt Dansby, and Madeline Dansby.
He was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Fern Syverson, and his parents Ranerth and Anna Syverson, along with his siblings, Ralph Syverson (brother), Mervine Syverson (bother) and Tena Syverson (sister).
