Ardyce Faye Schmidt's Obituary
Ardyce was born and raised in Red Oak, Iowa. After graduating from Red Oak High School, she attended business school. Ardyce married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Schmidt, in May of 1953. After he completed his service in the Air Force, they moved to Garland, Texas in 1959. Ardyce worked as a secretary for Northminster Presbyterian Church for 12 years. She also worked as a secretary in the banking business until her retirement in 1994. Ardyce then served as Receiving Treasurer at First Presbyterian Church for 15 years. Ardyce was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church, Garland, where she held numerous positions of leadership and service: Deacon, Stewardship team, Membership team, Women’s Association. Her husband, Ronald, preceded her in death in November of 2014. Ardyce is survived by her three children: Suzanne Pike and her husband Rick of Grand Prairie, Texas; David Schmidt and his wife Shelli of Deland, Florida; and Carol Wilson and her husband Allan of Rowlett, Texas. Her greatest joys have been her six adult grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church-Garland on Saturday, February 27 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day (participants Suzanne Pike and Jennifer Pike) or the First Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund. Ardyce fought a courageous battle against breast cancer for many years. She will be missed by her family and friends.
