Aretes Yvonnie Geer's Obituary
Aretes Yvonnie Geer, aged 85, awoke in the arms of our heavenly father on February 12th, 2024, in Rockwall, Texas. She was born on February 1st, 1939, in Waxahachie, to John and Ella Mae DeVaughan.
One of the most kind-hearted and loving aunt and friend, Aretes enjoyed reading, flower arranging and growing her career as a hairdresser for 45 years. She was a true blessing to know and was dearly loved by all who knew her. Aretes was also recognized as an exceptional cook and enjoyed cooking for her friends and family over the years. She was known to never hold back on her opinions on politics.
God bless the many men and women of the Dallas Police Department who affectionately referred to Aretes as “The Sheriff” thanks to Don’s faithful career as a Dallas Police Officer.
Aretes is preceded by her loving and faithful husband, Don Geer; her mother, Ella Mae DeVaughan; her father, John DeVaughan; her sister, Sherry Blair; and her brother, Bobby DeVaughan.
She is survived by her niece, Deborah Armstrong; her nephew, Bill Armstrong; her great-nephew, Adam Myers; her nephew, John Manley; her nephew, Ray Murphy; her cousin, Grace Butler; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and extended family such as Alan and Norma Geer, Bonnie, and many grandkids.
A graveside committal service is scheduled for Wednesday, February 21st at 10am in the Garden of Whispering Waters III, located in the southwest corner of Restland Memorial Park.
