Aron Burl Donnell Sr.'s Obituary
DONNELL, SR. ARON BURL on February 22, 2014, on a warm sun filled day the light went dim on our loved one, he stepped over the threshold to be with the love of his life Lottie Donnell to spend eternity. Mr. Aron Burl Donnell Sr was born on March 17, 1923 in Point, Tx (Rains County) to the late James Edward and Lura Rains Donnell. He received his formal education at Richmond Elementary and Richland High School. He attended Prairie View A&M for two years. Aron accepted Christ at an early age with the Richland Baptist Church and when he moved to Dallas, he became a member of Kirkwood CME Temple. Later he moved his membership to Hamilton Park United Methodist Church where Reverend Zan Holmes served as the Senior Pastor. He served in the US Navy from 1943-1946 as a First Class Seaman. Much of this service time was in the South Pacific and Iwo Jima. Aron B. Donnell married a beautiful young woman by the name of Lottie V. Clark on June 10, 1950 and to this union four children were born. Aron retired January 30, 1981 from the Dallas PDC with 30 years of service, where he started as a janitor and was promoted to a leadman on March 23, 1966. Aron never met a stranger and was always willing to give his last. He took pleasure in playing softball and he is one of Hamilton Park’s neighborhood “Domino” champs. Aron is preceded in death by both his parents, James Edward and Lura Rains Donnell; two brothers, Esque Donnell and Lowell Donnell; one sister, Gertie Mae Ervin and his loving wife of 60 years Lottie Donnell. He leaves to cherish precious memories, four children, Eddie Howard Donnell, Renita Donnell, Robert Donnell (Evelyn) and Aron B. Donnell Jr; six wonderful grandchildren: Vontrae (Traecy) Donnell, Antavia Standifer (Antonio), Desmond Donnell, Tiffany Donnell, Marquez Mathis and Mariah Mathis; five great grandchildren: Cameron Lamar, LaDarrius Love, Jazlyn Reeves, A’Miracle Standifer and Semyah Mathis; three sisters: Margie Grismore, Betty Robertson and LouEllen Battle; two sisters-in-law, Addine Thomas and Emma Clark; two brothers-in-law, Simon Clark and Wilma Clark (Cyntha) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and some truly special friends. Honorary Pallbearers: Roger Larimore, Aaron Niblet, Max Robertson, Donald Taylor, Antwan Huskey, and Antonio Standifer. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, February 28, 2014 at Restland Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Hamilton Park United Methodist Church.
