Mr. Arthur Gene Bartz's Obituary
Arthur Gene Bartz went peacefully home to be with his Lord on April 2, 2017. Many heartfelt thanks and praises to the outstanding nurses and staff that cared for Arthur during his final years while he was in the Clyde W. Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas. Arthur was born August 7, 1931 in Mexia, Texas and grew up in Corpus Christi. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1950-1954, 1st Armored Division Tank Battalion, “Old Ironside,” and was a veteran of the Korean War. Arthur was one of the ground exercise soldiers that bravely took part in the 1953 Upshot Knothole atomic testing. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he met the love of his life, Mary Ellen Harvey, in Waco, Texas. They married in 1961 and after Arthur was hired by Texas Instruments in Dallas, he and Mary Ellen settled in Garland, Texas. Arthur and Mary Ellen adopted their precious baby boy, Todd Jackson, in 1965. Arthur served in various roles in the Purchasing Dept at Texas Instruments for 25 years and he spent an additional 20 years as Vice President of Purchasing for TRW Optron. After retirement, Arthur stayed active with his diligent mall-walking and even started his own company creating parts for TRW Optron in his own in-home clean room. He was preceded in death by his love, Mary Ellen, who passed in 2001 and his parents, Walter Arthur Bartz, Ruth Ann Duke Bartz of Mustang, Oklahoma along with a sister, Mary Elizabeth Bartz. Arthur is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Todd Jackson Bartz and Jocelyn Camuñez Bartz; his beloved grandchildren Jace Jackson Bartz, Justus Reed Bartz, Afton Elyse Bartz, and Alyssa Erika Bartz; his sister Beverly Morawski and her husband Wayne of Fairview, Oklahoma; his brother Robert Bartz and his wife Estelle of Waco, Texas; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Arthur was more than just a Father, Husband, and Friend as he gave so much genuine love and assistance to everyone that crossed his path. More importantly, Arthur (and Mary Ellen) gave a child a chance for not just an ordinary life but a charmed one through God’s grace. In lieu of flowers, please support Birth Choice, 8610 Greenville Ave Suite 200, Dallas, TX 75243 (469-629-9387) in the name of the Arthur, Mary Ellen and Todd Bartz family. Adoption saves lives!
