Arthur Jesse "Bud" Lewis' Obituary
Arthur “Bud” Lewis, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully at home on October 13, 2025, at the age of 88. Born in Topeka, Kansas, on May 2, 1937, Bud lived his life as a shining example of unconditional love and gentle strength. He was kind, wise, and witty, always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. He was the youngest of three children born to Robert William and Ruby Octavia (Dews) Lewis.
Bud attended the University of Kansas and graduated in 1961 with a degree in Architecture. Upon graduation, he served as a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. After his military service, he began a long and successful career at HKS Architects in Dallas, where he worked for 39 years, ultimately serving as Head of the Specifications Department. Colleagues remember Bud as calm, reliable, genuine, and thoughtful.
A passionate sports fan, Bud enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling, spending time with family, and playing board games with his granddaughter. He was fortunate to play on some of the country’s most renowned golf courses, including Pebble Beach and Pinehurst, as well as several in Hawaii, California, Oregon, and the Carolinas.
Bud is survived by his daughter, Traci Lewis Doane; her husband, Robert Doane; granddaughter, Ashley Doane; sister, Betty Miller; and sister-in-law, Linda Lewis. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sari Lynn (Walner) Lewis; brother, Robert William Lewis Jr.; brother-in-law, Kenneth Miller; brothers-in-law, Richard Walner and Edward Walner; and sisters-in-law, Charlene Walner and Joan (Chastain) Walner.
Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Robert Doane, Neal Corbett, and Steve Haas.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243. Friends, colleagues, and family are warmly invited to join in celebrating Bud’s life. Inurnment will take place in November with immediate family members only.
