Arturo Trevino's Obituary
Arturo Treviño walked into the arms of his Lord on Sunday, January 21, 2018. He was born April 15, 1924 in San Antonio, Texas to Diego and Elena Montalvo de Treviño. He served his country with distinction in WWII, garnering a Bronze Star as a combat infantryman in the European Theater. He served as a machine gunner in the 42nd Rainbow Division and participated in the liberation of Dachau. After his military service, Arturo graduated from Trinity University in 1950. Shortly thereafter, he married his lovely wife Connie then began a career with the IRS before transferring to the US Department of State’s Agency for International Development. This work took him to extended assignments in 12 different countries. He retired in1985. He then became a faculty instructor at Richland Community College until 1990. Always faithful in the service of the Lord, he was ordained a deacon in 1975. He and Connie were active in local churches and in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He enjoyed volunteering with Wycliffe Bible Translators at their JAARS base in North Carolina and as a group discussion leader with Bible Study Fellowship. Arturo is survived by his beloved wife, Connie, son Arturo Jr. and Ann Treviño, daughter Deborah Virginia and James Barnes, son Aaron and Lisa Treviño, along with seven granddaughters and three grandsons. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name in lieu of flowers to Wycliffe Bible Translators, Orlando FL.
