Arty Boyd Smith's Obituary
Arty B. Smith, 92, of Dallas passed away on February 20, 2015. Arty was born December 31, 1922, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Arty B. and Ada M. Smith. He served in the Army during World War II and later graduated from Bentley College of Accounting and Finance in Boston, quickly earning his CPA. A long and successful career followed in Dallas. Arty was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jimmie, in 2002. The couple traveled the world throughout their 56-year marriage and genuinely lived life to its fullest. In his leisure time and later during retirement Arty was a furniture-maker, ham radio operator, pilot, skydiver, inventor, machinist, fabricator, scuba diver, long-distance hiker, and skipper of sailboats in tropical waters. Arty is survived by his children, Clifford Smith and wife, Joy of Richardson, Barbara Hudgens and husband, John of Dallas, and Elizabeth Carrico of Vancouver, Washington, as well as 10 grandchildren (one deceased) and 15 great-grandchildren. Memorial Service for Arty will take place at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 6, 2015 at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
