Athena Fox's Obituary
Athena Avgeris Fox, age 80, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family. Born on September 29, 1942 in Memphis, Tennessee to Andrew and Sophia Avgeris, Athena was the youngest of four children: Johnny, Georgia & Helen.
She was married to her husband, Tom L Fox for over 60 years. Together they raised a loving family; she is survived by her two sons L. George Fox (wife Beverly), John Fox (wife Daphne), and daughter Ellena Fox. She also leaves behind her four grandchildren: Axel, Sophia, Thanasi, and Andrew, many nieces and nephews, as well as numerous beloved family and friends.
As a lifelong member of the Greek Orthodox Church, she served many years at Holy Trinity in
Dallas. She contributed by singing in the choir, serving on Philoptochos (a philanthropic society), helping at the food bank, and volunteering at the Greek Food Festival where she was often seen serving up Greek coffee & pastries.
Athena was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt who found great passion in gourmet cooking, often hosting & entertaining guests, as well as culinary teaching. She also dearly loved tennis and golf, where she received many awards for her accomplishments as well as made lifelong friends. She was a great example for living life centered in faith, loving her family, and embracing the moment to the fullest. Her smile and warm heart will be dearly missed by those she touched.
Trisagion (prayer service) and funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, November 23 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Road, Dallas, TX. Interment will be held at Restland Memorial Park.
