Mrs Audean Mae Thomas' Obituary
Audean Mae Carriker Thomas, born March 20, 1926 passed peacefully on December 26, 2020. She is survived by her brother Wyndell Carriker, daughters Donna Bailey, Margaret Lindley and her grandchildren Anthony Rogers, Lauren La Prade and Joel La Prade. She was preceded in death by her father Homer Carriker and mother Della Pond Carriker and siblings Harold Carriker and Lee Ila (Ditty) Carriker Martin. She was a born entertainer, performing for one person or hundreds. Born and raised in Mineral Wells, Texas she graduated Mineral Wells High School, class of '43. She was a chief telephone operator at Fort Wolters before moving to Dallas to work at the Federal building as telephone operator. She performed with Military bands during WWII and entertained and won dance marathons at the USO. With her love of music and beautiful voice, she was known as “The Hat Lady” and performed at retirement homes with the Good Times Gang band and for anyone who needed their spirits lifted. She had an unending repertoire of songs and never stopped performing. She was full of life and was the epitome of “One of A Kind”! She has a big, bright, shining blue star on her heavenly door.
A limited small service will be 10:00am, Monday, January 4th at Restland Memorial Cemetery.
