Avilda Roquemore's Obituary
Roquemore, Avilda of Dallas, Texas passed away July 5, 2011 peacefully from the arms of her loving family to the arms of her Lord. She was born June 21, 1920 in Hog Creek, Texas to William Andrew Jones and Birtie Elizabeth Everett. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Roquemore, her parents, and her brother. She is survived by her sister Betty Ann Cochran, her two children, Dennis Cochran and Cherry Myers, as well as her step-daughter, Charlotte Mulry, and her two children Shelley and Bud Mulry. She was lovingly called “Auntie” by her many nieces and nephews and by many who knew her well. She loved flowers and loved to garden which was evident in her award winning daylilies. She was an honorary life member of the Daylily Growers of Dallas and a member of the Garden Club for many years. She went to work later in life at Republic Life Insurance Company with a long career that ended with her retirement. Avilda loved to cook and was known for making “the best divinity” around. She was a member of Lake Highlands Baptist Church for many years and enjoyed spending time with the Friday Nite Live group. She loved spending time with her family and her sister that she adored. Thanks to her care-givers, Ada Walter and Neil Porter, who served her so well in the final stage of her life. The family will receive guests on Thursday, July 7th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be on Friday, July 8th at 12:30 p.m. at Restland Funeral Chapel with Bro. Mark Farish officiating. Memorials may be made to Lake Highlands Baptist Church, 642 Brookhurst Drive, Dallas, Texas 75218. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
