Aze Lee Neely's Obituary
Aze Lee Glaze Neely was born to the late Jesse James and Ivanah Washington Glaze, who preceded her in death. Her birth and childhood occurred in Midway (Madison County) Texas. Aze Lee attended and completed her education in the A. V. Lee High School, Midway Independent School District. As a young adult, she moved to Dallas and began to pursue her hobby and gift of “sewing” by working at Lorch Manufacturing Company. She was an employee at Lorch many years until her retirement in 1983. As a professional seamstress, her family, her church family, and friends were blessed by her talents! She would always say, “I LOVE TO SEW!” Aze Lee was an outstanding Christian woman and an example of what it meant to be an active member of the “Church.” When she moved to Dallas, she transferred her Christian life from Midway Methodist Church to St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Dallas, Texas. Aze Lee focused her faith-walk on Psalm 84:10b, “I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” She served as President of St. Paul’s Usher Board #2 for ten years. In 1959 Aze Lee joined Hamilton Park Methodist Church and immediately joined the Greetings and Courtesy Council #1. Her attention became focused on organizing a Youth Usher Board. The Youth Ushers were always a “beacon of light and joy” in her life. She gave of her love to the Youth Ushers from 1960-1970. Aze Lee served as a committed usher until her physical health caused her to retire. October 15, 2000 she was recognized for 42 years of “dedicated service” as a member of the Greetings and Courtesy Council#1. Aze Lee also gave of her time as an active member of The United Methodist Women, the Bereavement Committee, the Mature Adult Ministry and Feeding the Homeless Ministry. Aze Lee was married to the love of her life Cleotris Neely on, September 30, 1940. He preceded her in death, November 12, 2005. Although their 65 years of marriage did not birth children, they had an abundance of loving and caring nieces and nephews. Her sisters who preceded her in death were Carrie Lee Glaze Bobby, Annie Mae Glaze Porter, and Jessie Dean Glaze Waiters. Her surviving sister is Ida Mae Glaze Bailey. The JOYS of her LIFE were her NEPHEWS! Clyde Hayes, Jr., S. W. Waiters, Jr. and Warren Delano Bailey preceded her in this life. Remaining to remember Aunt Sister is Willie Jophryn, Los Angeles, CA, Roger C. Waiters Sr., (Kathy) San Diego, CA, James E. Glaze, (Sherry) Houston, TX, Harrison O. Bailey III, Plano, TX, and Michael K. Waiters, Dallas, TX. Her surviving nieces are Jackye Waiters-Lee (Chuck), Brenda Yolonda Bailey, and Gwenevere Denise Mitchell all of Dallas. Her Godchild, Katrina Banks, Garland, TX. Many great nieces, nephews, family members and friends will forever cherish Aunt Sister’s love and memory.
