Barbara Louise Anderson's Obituary
Barbara Louise Anderson, 89, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on October 8, 2025. She was born on January 17, 1936, in Flint, Michigan, to Harold V. Bowyer and Mary Marie Bowyer.
Barbara graduated from Mount Vernon High School in California. Following graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Sherman Jack George. Soon after their marriage, Sherman joined the U.S. Air Force, and together they shared 18 years of marriage. Barbara was a devoted member of women’s church groups and outreach ministries, serving faithfully both in her local church and on military bases where they were stationed.
Her love for music began in junior high and continued through high school, where she played the viola in the senior orchestra as second chair. Barbara’s passion for faith, family, and music touched many lives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Jim Bowyer; sons James George and Johnny George; granddaughter Aethal Smith; and son-in-law William Smith.
Barbara is survived by her children: Mark A. George of Lockhart, TX, and Linda L. (George) Smith of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren Brad George, David George, Sarah George, Jon Christopher George, Zach George, Hannah George, Joshua George, Nicole Smith, and Westin Smith; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. All grandchildren and great-grandchildren reside in Texas, while many nieces and nephews live in California.
Pallbearers: Mark George (son), Westin Smith (grandson), Nicole Smith (granddaughter), and Linda Smith (daughter).
