A memorial for Barbara Ann Blackwood, 76, of Dallas, Texas will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 2, 2019 in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park. Barbara was born on March 16, 1943 in Fort Worth, Texas to her loving parents Henry and Evelyn Blackmon. Barbara married Allen Chalmers Blackwood in Dallas on August 16, 1986.During the Vietnam War, she was an instructor for Southern Airways at Fort Wolters in Mineral Wells, Texas. Fort Wolters was the largest primary helicopter training center in the world. She supervised the renovation of and was building manager for Landmark Center on Lamar Street, the first building to be renovated in Dallas’s new West End Historic District. She managed an office for Greater Dallas Association of Realtors (later MetroTex Association of Realtors) and became a continuing-education trainer, visiting realtor offices all around North Texas. She traveled the world.Barbara is survived by daughter Pamela Hefley and her husband Kendall Hefley, son Calvin Simpson, granddaughter Sydney Hefley, brother Ronald Blackmon and his wife Jo Ann Blackmon, niece Robin Dunda and her husband Stryker Dunda, nephew Ron Blackmon and his wife Carole Blackmon, and many cousins.She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.Funeral arrangements for Barbara been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
