Barbara Carter's Obituary
CARTER, BARBARA (WADE) was born on July 7, 1951 in Houston, Texas, went to be with our Lord on September 20, 2010. Barbara danced her way through her early years, starting with the Houston Music Hall at age 2 1/2, continuing with the Larry Kane TV Show, the Hornpiper Drill Team at Jones High School, and finishing as a dancer with the University of Houston Cougar Dolls. Barbara was graduated from Jesse Jones High School with Honors in 1969 and from the University of Houston with a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1973. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Sorority. Upon graduation she worked as Executive Assistant to the President of a Houston Steamship Agency. She married Robert S. Carter in 1977 . Her son Robert Carter, Jr. was born in 1982 and Barbara found her mission in loving, teaching and rearing him. She moved with her family to McKinney in 1986. Barbara served as Executive Director of the Heard-Craig Center for the Arts and as Executive Assistant to the President of International Galleries, Inc. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church of McKinney and a participant in the Wednesday Bible Study group. Barbara was diagnosed with Stage 4 kidney cancer in 2007 and has fought a valiant battle. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents David and Bernice Wade. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Robert Carter; her loving son, Robert Carter, Jr.; her sister, Deborah Reid of Pearland, Texas; her brother-in-law, Larry Reid; and her niece, Crystal Wooley; Crystal’s daughter, Aleah Lynne; and nephew Shaun Reid of Houston, Texas. McKinney services will be held in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in downtown McKinney at 10:00 am (with viewing starting one hour earlier). Pearland services will be held at South Park Cemetery (1310 North Main Street: Pearland, TX 77581) at gravesite at 10:00 am on September 25, 2010 with visitation from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on September 24, 2010.
