Barbara Joyce Cockrill's Obituary
COCKRILL, BARBARA JOYCE, 80, of Irving, TX formerly of Satin, TX, died peacefully in her home on September 1, 2013. Born January 25, 1933 in Waco, TX, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Cockrill; parents, Reuben and Selma (Guderian) Collins; three brothers, Tommy, Charles, and Tye Collins; and sister, Gilda (Collins) Johnson. Barbara graduated in 1949 from Chilton High School. She then went on to attend business school in Dallas, TX. She worked as an executive secretary, until retirement in 1982. She enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, traveling, cooking, and playing the slots. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family the most. Barbara is survived by her brother, Wayne Collins and his wife, Rena of Conroe, TX; son, Steve Milford of Garland, TX; daughter, Shari Griffin and husband, Leonard of Dorchester, TX; granddaughter, Jennifer Marquez and husband, Shane of Bells, TX; and great-grandchildren, Shane Jr, Megan, Emily, and Mackenzie. Graveside services will be held at Restland in Dallas, TX at the Court of Remembrance, Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 10 AM. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be immediately following in the family room at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross.
