Barbara Rose Cocuzza Stanley's Obituary
Barbara Rose Cocuzza Stanley peacefully passed away and went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 18, 2020. She was 88 years old.
Barbara was born July 24, 1932 in Staten Island, New York, the only child of Prudence and Joseph Cocuzza. She grew up in Yonkers, New York, and after graduating from St. Barnabas High School, she attended the Washington School for Secretaries in New York City and then went to work in the steno pool at Arabian American Oil Company (Aramco). It was there where God led her to her future husband of 64 years, Lyn Stanley. Barbara and Lyn were married on May 6, 1956.
After a couple of years in Saudi Arabia, followed by time in Houston and Crystal Lake, Illinois, Barbara and Lyn settled in Dallas, TX where they enjoyed a full life together. She often said, "family is everything" and she was happiest when she was surround by their four beloved children, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Barbara will be fondly remembered by all who met her. She was quick to make a friend and always had a smile and a kind word for those around her.
Her passion was her family and her strong Catholic faith. Barbara had a giving heart. She served the community of St. Rita Catholic Church as the parish secretary for 10 years. She later spent countless hours as a volunteer at the North Dallas Shared Ministries.
Barbara faced several health challenges over the past few years, but she found her strength and peace to be centered around her faith in God. Throughout it all, her easy-going attitude came out, and she would often say, "I'm fine. It's fine. Everything's fine." Her love and concern for others always came first.
Barbara was an avid reader and accomplished writer and authored several unpublished books which are treasured by her family. The message throughout each book poured out her love for God, family, and kindness to others.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Lyn Stanley, sons Tom Stanley (wife Mindy), Tim Stanley (wife Julie), James Stanley (wife Maria) and daughter Lois Scheidt (husband Jon), 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

"Life is beautiful, let it happen and be grateful for all its blessings. But when life throws you a curve and you feel all alone, remember God has not left you; Jesus is right by your side waiting to help. He has promised not to abandon us and I trust His every word. And I await the day when He gently leads me home to be with him forever."
