Barbara B. Davis' Obituary
Barbara Brooks Davis, a beloved wife, mother, and cherished 'Gran,' passed away on September 4th, 2023, in Plano, Texas, at the age of 87. She was born on August 20, 1936, in Turner County, Georgia, to the loving parentage of Ira L. and Pearlie Vitula Brooks.
Barbara was a woman of many talents and passions. She was an ardent bridge player and cherished her time spent with her bridge group and many friends. Barbara's life was marked by her deep love for her family and friends. She had an extraordinary bond with her family, and she was especially dedicated to her role as 'Gran' to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bruce I. Davis, her parents, Ira and Vitula Brooks, her brothers Kyle Brooks and Troy Brooks, and her son, Layne A. Davis.
Professionally, Barbara dedicated over 25 years of her life as a management analyst for the defense department at DCSAR-Dallas. She was a loyal employee and made significant contributions to her field.
Barbara was an avid sports enthusiast, particularly enjoying football and baseball, especially when her four grandsons were involved. She was a loyal supporter of Texas Tech and the Dallas Cowboys. Barbara also had a passion for solving newspaper crosswords, a hobby she delighted in.
Barbara's life was filled with love and devotion to her family. She married the love of her life, Bruce Davis, on January 10, 1962, and together they created a beautiful family. She is survived by her son Scott I. Davis and his wife Renee Davis, her grandsons Derek S. Davis and his wife Kristen, Corey R. Davis and his wife Sydney, Brandon C. Davis, and Austin H. Davis and his fiancée Caitlin O'Sullivan. Barbara is also survived by her great-grandsons Tyler J. Davis and Ryan T. Davis.
A graveside service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Monday, September 11th, at 10:00 am at Restland Cemetery in Dallas. Barbara's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
