Barbara Alice Eidt's Obituary
After a difficult battle with multiple myeloma and complications arising from it, Barbara Alice Eidt passed away peacefully on Saturday, August, 28, 2021 surrounded by her daughters.
Born in Columbia, SC to John & Sadie Fletcher, Barbara was an only child, best described as an independent and precocious child. As most children of the 50's were, Barbara was your typical teenybopper and passionate about music. Those of you that knew her well, may have heard some hair-raising stories of her adolescent years where she tried to meet every music artist possible when they came into town. She was also a great storyteller and wrote many unpublished works.
Barbara met her husband Fred in her grade school years. They lived down the street from one another and immediately became fast friends. Their mothers orchestrated their reunion in 1977. They later married in 1978 and enjoyed 42 years of marriage.
Barbara was a fiercely strong mother, raising two equally strong daughters. Momma was our biggest cheerleader and our constant supporter. Our family would not be where it is today if we didn’t have her as a mother.
Barbara found salvation in the Lord, Jesus Christ in the late 1980s and sought to share the gospel with anyone and everyone she would meet. Even in death, she wanted to make sure there was an opportunity the share the good news. In a letter she wrote regarding her funeral wishes she said: "I would prefer the service be VERY evangelistic with an altar call at the end. Try to invite all the non-believers."
Barbara was preceded in death by her mother Sadie Fletcher and father John Fletcher. She leaves behind her husband, Fred Eidt; daughter, Krystal Baker (Jeff Baker); and daughter, Synthia Hogue (Jeremy Hogue).
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to the funeral home.
