Barbara Lenora Hauptman's Obituary
Barbara B. Hauptman passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at the age of 96, in Marble Falls, Texas. Barbara was born in Dallas, Texas on October 15, 1921 to Jewel Austin and Addie Pearl Eagle Beall. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1939. She married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Hauptmann on June 5, 1942. They were married for almost 60 years. Barbara was employed at American Liberty Oil Company of Dallas for almost 30 years as secretary to Paul Corley, Executive Vice President.Barbara and Ralph enjoyed entertaining family and friends at Lake Texoma for many years until eventually retiring there. Upon retirement they traveled the country in their RV and spent many fun times with their square dance club going to jamborees. In 1995, they decided to move to Sun City Georgetown where they became members of the First Baptist Church and Sun City Square Dance Club.Barbara lived in Sun City until after her 90th birthday when she moved to Weslyan at Estrella in Georgetown before moving to Arbor House in Marble Falls. Barbara had many friends throughout her long life. She loved to travel and went on many group cruises and bus tours. After she moved into a senior living facility in Georgetown, she became known as one of the “ Cutie Pies”. She and her fellow “Cutie Pies” loved to go out to lunch and shop at Stein Mart.She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hauptman; her sister, Mary Jewel Thurmond Johnson and nephew Charles E. Thurmond. She is survived by her niece, Patti Thurmond Carr and husband Brad of Horseshoe Bay, TX.; Eugene Hauptman of Wiley, TX.; great nephew, John S. Thurmond of Ft. Worth; great niece, Elizabeth Thurmond Monroe and husband Greg, and great-great nieces, Genevieve, Samantha and Rosemarie Monroe of Ft. Worth.Services will be held at 10:00AM Friday August 24th at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park 13005 Greenville Ave. Dallas, Texas. Viewing and Family Visitation will be held at 9:30 AM at Wildwood Chapel the morning of the service.The family requests donations to “Cure Alzheimer’s Fund” or other charitable organization in lieu of flowers.Funeral arrangements for Ms. Barbara Lenora Hauptman have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery, which is located at 13005 Greenville Ave., at the intersection of Restland Road, Dallas, Texas 75243, and can be reached at (972) 238-7111.
