Barbara Lolita Jensen's Obituary
Barbara Lolita Robbins Jensen was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on December 31, 2024, in Midlothian, Texas, after 96 adventurous and fruitful years. While her family mourns the loss of their devoted mother and “Granny,” they are comforted that she was met in Heaven by her most beloved husband, father, and “PaPa,” Glenroy Jensen.
Barbara was born on March 30, 1928, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Ellis and Lou Robbins. The Army Corps of Engineers brought various moves for the family, with Barbara attending several schools before settling in Galveston, Texas, graduating from Ball High School in 1946. It is here where she met her husband and forever love, Glen. After serving in the US Army during World War II, Glen and Barbara married on June 5, 1948. The Jensen's moved to Garland, Texas, where they had their first daughter, Glenda, in 1951, and second daughter, Robbin, in 1953.
Throughout their life together, Barbara and Glen were active in the Garland community, serving for the Garland Jaycees and at St. David’s Episcopal Church. Barbara and Glen also loved to travel, play golf, and spend holidays and vacations with their family. Upon Glen’s passing in 1995, Barbara remained active in her travels, as well as serving in the choir and as a lay reader at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. She was also very talented in cooking, painting, and sewing.
One of Barbara’s proudest roles was that of “Granny” to her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and recently, she became a great-great-grandmother. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have fond childhood memories with their Granny.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, brother Richard, grandson-in-law Rigo Canales, and her loving husband, Glenroy. She is survived by her two daughters, Glenda Jensen and Robbin Tyler, as well as her son-in-law Lin Tyler. Barbara is also survived by her four grandchildren, Michael Hill, Kristina Canales, Desiree Stone and husband Jason, and Melissa Gonzalez and husband Jason; seven great-grandchildren, Megan and Payton Hill, Kayla and Savanna Grant, Ruby and Travis Stone, and Abigail Gonzalez; and her great-great-granddaughter, Azalea Alverson. The family also wants to acknowledge Stella McCain, Mary Batiste, and the nurses and staff at Custom Care Hospice and Midtowne Meadows Health and Rehab.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Heights Ellis County Family Resources.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 13, 2025, at 10:30 am at the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas 75243.
