Barbara Metzger's Obituary
Barbara Metzger was born May 23, 1931. She was born in Dallas and grew up in Irving, TX. She was the middle daughter of Paul and Ethel Walker.
Upon graduating from high school in 1949, Barbara attended business school, becoming a secretary for law firms in Houston and Dallas, and spent most of her career with Vial, Hamilton, Koch, Tubb, Knox and Stradley.
In July of 1963, Barbara married the love of her life, Charles Metzger, Jr. Their time together was cut short when Charlie passed away in May of 1972, but Barbara carried his memory with grace and strength throughout her life.
She lived in Garland, Tx for 42 years before moving to Tomball, Tx in 2018 to be closer to family.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Charlie and her sister Betty who passed away in 2015.
She is survived by her younger sister, Anita from Anchorage, Alaska, her son, Mark Metzger and his wife Samantha of Scottsboro, Alabama, her daughter Holly Steed and her husband James of Tomball, TX and 3 grandchildren, Zachary Metzger of McKinney, TX, Hannah Steed of Waco, TX, and Jake Steed of Columbus, IN.
Barbara was a devoted mother and grandmother who always thought of others before herself. She was a talented artist who painted oil paintings who also loved to read, bake, and entertain her family every holiday.
She lived a long and wonderful life and will be missed by all who knew her.
