Barbara Mae Ross “Granny” NelsonIt is with much sadness and grief to announce the passing of Barbara Mae Ross “Granny” Nelson. She was born in Dallas, Texas on December 12, 1928 and passed away peacefully March 9, 2019 at the age of ninety years old at the Community Hospice of Texas in Ft. Worth. Barbara was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents William Thomas Ross and Gussie Sassmanhous. Also, preceding her in death, was her husband and soulmate, Billy Jack Nelson, and her daughter Becky Nelson Jones and Becky’s husband Richard Jones.Barbara loved to cook, be with family and be involved in family activities. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed working cross word puzzles. She liked to knit and did ceramics. She loved and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was a loving and wonderful mother who accepted all of our friends just like they were part of the family. She had a full life and was active in her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.Left to cherish her memories are her children, Thomas Edward Nelson and his wife Jan Wilkerson Nelson, and Billy Ray Nelson; her grandchildren Amanda Jones and her husband J R Munoz, Meaghan Jones and her husband Abdul Awan, Aaron Jones, Thomas Ross Nelson and his wife Kate Nelson, Jayse Nelson and Barrett Nelson; her great-grandchildren Knox Nelson, Teddy Nelson, Miles Munoz, Jasrah Awan and Eiliyah Awan.Family will be receiving guests for visitation Thursday March 14, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Restland Memorial Park, with internment at 11:30 and memorial services starting at 12:30 at the Wildwood Chapel in Restland Memorial Park at 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243 main- (972) 238-7111In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The ARKGroup (Adults Relating To Kids), www.thearkgroup.org at 2828 Fish Trap Road, Dallas, TX 75212.
