Barbara M. Newman's Obituary
Of Plano, TX passed away peacefully December 26, 2010 of complications from brain cancer. Born 1120/1939 in Cameron, TX to Lincoln and Angeline Mondrik. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandson Chase Lazarine. She is survived by her brothers, Joseph L. Mondrik & wife Roselee and Albert Frank Mondtik & wife Rosemary. Barbara is also survived by her husband of 50 Years, Gene Newman, and children, Lori Lazarinc & husband John (of Allen, TX), Deann Hancock & husband Randy (of McKinney, TX). In addition, 4 grandchildren, Taylor & Christopher Lazarine and Ashlyn & Lauren Hancock. Barbara was a 1956 graduate of Yoe High School in Cameron and received a business education degree from North Texas State College (NTSU) in 1960. She did her student teaching at Bryan Adams High School in Dallas and taught typing and shorthand at Rutherford Business College, Dallas. Later, Barbara was an executive secretary at Republic National Bank in Dallas, When her daughters were born Barbara stayed home to take care of her famiIy. She later worked for Dr. Mark Geller, Orthodontist for over 30 years, where she was office manager. Barbara and Gene were previously active members of the Richardson Jaycees and Jaycettes and are currently members of the Kissin Kuzzins Square Dance Club of Garland. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00PM on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Restland Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 10:00AM on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at First Christian Church in Garland, TX.
