Barbara Dare Palmer's Obituary
Barbara D. Palmer passed from this life April 10, 2017, following a lengthy illness with cancer. She was born in Thrift, Texas, near Burkburnett July 21, 1940, and moved to Dallas when she was two years old. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Eastfield College. She was employed at Nieman Marcus, and later for twenty-seven years as a secretary at the Highland Oaks Church of Christ in Dallas. She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Dottie Welch, three brothers, Russell Welch, Jr., Jay William Welch, Richard Welch and sister Dorothy Welch. She is survived by her husband of fifty-six years, Robert sons, Richard Palmer, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, John Palmer, Dallas, and daughter Kathy Griffith and husband Paul of Forney, Texas, grand children Brandon Pittenger and wife Courtney of Dallas, Rhyland Ramirez and husband Raiford of Stephenville, Texas, Sarah Palmer, Jamestown, North Carolina and Ben Palmer, Winston-Salem, North Carolina, sister-in-law Nina Campbell, Paris, Texas, nephew Rowland Welch and wife Mary, Bonham, Texas,several cousins and a host of friends. Barbara’s greatest joy was spending time with her family and worshiping with her church family. She constantly encouraged those around her not to worry because God is in control and He will work things out. The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 13, 2017, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in stateroom C-D at Restland Funeral Home. Service for Barbara will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017, at Highland Oaks Church of Christ at 10:30 AM. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
