Barbara Parker Cooper's Obituary
Barbara Parker Cooper was born August 8, 1932 in Memphis, TN and entered
into the Lord’s presence on November 16, 2021 in Denton, TX. Growing up in Memphis, Barbara enjoyed a warm, encouraging relationship with her mother and extended family. It was during her childhood years, through family, that her spiritual commitment was set – a foundation that would guide Barbara the rest of her life. Barbara had a long, fulfilling career with American Airlines. For many years, she worked in the Dallas AA City Ticket Office. Barbara enjoyed her work, in part, because whatever else she was doing, Barbara always enjoyed meeting new people and helping others. She held a number of positions with American before taking early retirement in 1984. After retiring, Barbara relentlessly pursued many and varied interests including fixer-upper home renovation and resales – an outlet for her practical creativity, boundless energy and unwavering determination. Barbara actively supported a variety of ministries and missions. She never tired of spending time with old friends or lacked energy for pursuing new relationships. She enjoyed her time with family. Barbara’s stories, generosity, encouragement, prayer, strong heritage of
faith and love for her family will be missed. She was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. Barbara trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior and would encourage all who read this to know the same peace she enjoyed by placing their faith and trust solely in Christ. From childhood through the end of her life, Barbara sought to follow and honor the Lord in all her ways. She will be remembered for her commitment to Christ and standing firm in her faith when confronted with adversity. To the very end, it was these same challenges that strengthened her faith in the Lord she loved.
Preceded in death by her parents, Edward Charles Parker and Laura Lee Stephenson Parker, and her husband, William Barry DeZonia, and husband William R. Cooper. Survived by her son, Scott (Elayne) DeZonia and son, Terry (Marcia) DeZonia; three grandchildren, Maggie (Jeremiah) Eubank, David (Ashleigh) DeZonia and Alan (Shannon) DeZonia; and eight great- grandchildren, Hunter and Gus Eubank; Charlie, Joyce, and Lizzie DeZonia; and Jace, Abby, and Sophie DeZonia.
