Barbara was born June 12, 1931 in Milwaukee, WI and passed away October 5, 2009 in Sunnyvale, TX. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Prater and her grandson, Craig Prater. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Carol Read Obituary
Ed and I are sorry for your loss. I have a lot of fond memories of Barbara and sharing time with her at work. She was a true friend and one I shall never forget. She and I enjoyed sharing family good times and bad times and encouraging one another. May God bless you and may you find comfort in His Word.

I had the good fortune to work with and for Barbara for many years. She was always respected for her integrity and work ethic and was loved for her sense of humor and loyal friendship. She was generous with her love of horses and my daughter loved visiting her farm where she could ride a horse. Barbara also taught me to love peanut butter and mayonaise sandwiches, which I had never heard of. We had a lot of laughs and I know she will be missed by many friends she made over the years and her family whom she loved dearly. My family and I will keep her family in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.
Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. We all have special memories of Barbara and will continue to carry them in our hearts and will rejoice one day when we meet back up with her and others that have gone on before us. I love you guys – Vickie
I have so many cherisable memories of Barbara with all of our get-togethers. She will be greatly missed and leaves many lasting memories.
My mom in law is a Proverbs 31 woman and I will miss her dearly. She taught me a lot as she was in my life for 32 years and now in my heart forever. Mom, I am so going to miss our talks. I dialed your number a lot over the years. It started the week Jeff and I began to date and they never stopped. We talked serious then we would talk about The Fair and the pearl you would get that year. You told me you were not religious but I know better mom, you are a spirit filled woman! We all learned from you. Towards the end I learned patience and humilty. I went to hold your hand but instead you held mine.
