The picture that Juli posted encompasses the best memories I have of Barbara. Sitting in her new car at the time, she has such a wind-blown and carefree look. It reminds me of the laughter we shared later while driving in her beautiful royal purple Triumph. When I visited Dallas, we drove down many streets feeling the wind blowing through our hair. Memories of driving down Skillman and Walnut Hill at night, feeling the unique freedom that 19-year-olds share. I laughed to myself recalling these memories when I recognized those two streets many years later when my own family moved to Dallas. After the teenage years we kept in touch by phone with rare in person visits in the 1990s. The struggles of life seemed to increase, especially for Barbara. Thankfully during this time, she gained comfort from her God, her family, and her beloved pets. We continued to share laughter by phone especially when she related stories of Pugsley and his antics. Also, I shared on Facebook one year that the award for best Christmas card went to my cousin Barbara and ended up framing it (see picture). It gives me peace even now, knowing that she has received her greatest comfort and peace in heaven in the arms of our great Comforter, the Prince of Peace. I smile when I think about times of laughter we will share in our future heavenly home, where even Pugsley will be at peace, and we will share a greater, royal Triumph procured by our Savior Jesus Christ.
