Barbara Ann Smith-Morgan's Obituary
Morgan, Barbara Ann Adams, was granted her angel wings on November 3, 2010. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family and friends that Barbara had touched in some small way throughout her life. She will be watching over us from heaven until we see her again. Viewing to be held from 6-8 PM Thursday and services will be held 12:30 PM Friday at Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Please join us in celebrating her life. Barbara was born January 16, 1940 in Alexandria, Louisiana, to the union of John Augustus Adams and Nellie M. von Senden Adams. Barbara was the first woman to achieve the rank of Lieutenant with the Garland Police Department, and retired after a very successful career. She then pursued her passion for ceramics, and enjoyed traveling and family. She was an active member of Mensa with an I.Q. within the upper two percentile. Barbara is survived by her husband of 35 years, Edward Morgan of Farmersville, Texas., her mother, Nellie M. von Senden Adams, of Pineville, Louisana; one brother, John A. Adams Jr. and his wife, Gail of Pineville, Louisiana; two sons, William Alan Smith and his wife, Tobbie of Dallas, Texas., and John Randolph Smith of Houston, Texas. Grandchildren, Kelly Kinsey and James Smith, and numerous Great-Grand children, nieces, nephews and extended family. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in Barbara’s memory to Guns and Hoses to support injured police and fire personnel.
