Barbara Ruth Vinson's Obituary
Barbara Ruth Steakley Vinson of Overland Park, Kansas, was called home to be with the Lord on May 13, 2025. She was 78. Barbara was born on April 28, 1947, in Denison, Texas to the late Lambert Lee Steakley and Barbara Ruth Baxter Steakley. She grew up in Denison, moving to Waco with her family in 1961. She graduated from Richfield High School in Waco in 1966. Barbara married Billy Don Vinson February 21, 1969 in McLennan County, TX. They later moved to Garland, TX to raise their family. She attended Church on the Rock in Rockwall in the 1980’s-90’s where she was saved. She was a bookkeeper for various businesses and ministries throughout her life. Barbara loved Jesus above all else and had a true servant's heart - always finding ways to help those in need. She was also a prayer warrior. Barbara and Billy lived in multiple places including Albuquerque, New Mexico, various cities in TX, and residing in Overland Park, KS off and on since 2011. Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, as well as brother, Robert Lee Steakley and sister, Suzan Cozette Steakley Allen. Barbara is survived by her husband, Billy Vinson of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Vanessa Vinson McKibben and husband, Lane; son, Don Vinson and wife, Gabriel; grandchildren, Rachel Vinson Mann and husband, Kyle, Asher McKibben, Emery Mckibben; great-grandson, Elijah Mann; brother, Bill Steakley and wife, Jody; sister, Dianne Steakley Renner and husband, Mark; and many other relatives. In keeping with the wishes of Barbara, there will be no funeral services.
