Barbara Douglas White's Obituary
Barbara Douglass White, 82, passed away peacefully on September 14 after battling Alzheimer’s for several years. She was born in Littlefield, Texas on December 12, 1936 to Nona Blake Evans and Morris Douglass. She was raised in Muleshoe and graduated from Muleshoe High School in 1955 and then attended Texas Tech University in Lubbock.She is survived by her daughter, Kristi White Nelson, and her husband, Scott and grandchildren Megan Gittins and Blake Gittins, and her sister, Ann Ferris, and her husband Leland, along with nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Wilton White, her son Douglass White, and brother, Benny Douglass.Barbara married Wilton on December 21, 1957. They spent a few years in Orange and Amarillo, but Beaumont was always home and they enjoyed many happy times with family and friends in their hometown. Barbara was very active in the Beaumont community, serving in leadership positions in the Junior League of Beaumont and Buckner’s Children’s Village and was actively involved in many activities at St. Marks Episcopal Church. She was also a member of The National Society of Colonial Dames.A private funeral service will be held in Dallas with interment in Magnolia Cemetery in Beaumont, Texas.
