Our grandfather Bardwell had sixteen grandchildren, of whom I was number 2. Fifteen of us made it to our grandmother's funeral in 2006. During that weekend, Grandfather frequently referred to us by our numbers. Nobody was more delighted than my cousin Catherine, number 16. This led to a day a few months later when Grandfather walked into a shirt printing shop and ordered 16 team-style tee shirts (in UT colors, naturally), each with a number on the front and "Odum" printed on the back. Many of us are planning on bringing them to the funeral. I'm looking forward to the photo op, and also to meeting some of Grandfather's GREAT-grandchildren. I tried to figure out how many of those there are, but I don't keep very good track of my cousins, so I'm only guessing at 9. So if you see a bunch of young to middle-aged people wearing burnt orange, it might be us. Come over and say hi.
