Barry introduced me to Bob Dylan, riding motorcycles and just hanging out after school. Seems like he was always in a good mood and easy to be around with. Barry was meant to be in plays. We had plenty of escapades senior year. Just looking at his senior picture brought back a flood of good memories. Easy to remember was he was so popular and well liked. I was blessed to have Barry as a friend.
It was fun to know a nice person like barry. We will miss you. Larry Murdock class of 66.
I met Barry back in 1962. We shared a lot of laughs and a few cries. We chased girls to gather and once had dreams of rafting down the Mississippi like Tom Sawyer and his faithful pal Huck. We roomed together in college and hung out in the snack bar. Lived thru the war years with Bob Dylan. I don't remember how or when we drifted apart. I'll remember the visits to Mrs. Prokop's house. I'm so glad to see Barry is remembered by so many of his long-time friends. He always talked fondly of his days in Lyle and his time in Carbondale. Barry lived next door to my wife and I here in Dallas for several years. Besides being friends – he would help me with my Acting Clipz video service by reading with actors when they would shoot their auditions…he was really good at it. He also loved sitting around the pool – many good times. All our condolences go out to his son Jason, daughter-in-law Michelle, and his two grandchildren Ava and Emma. Jason said the plan is to hold a memorial in Dallas by sprinkling some of his ashes on Wendy's grave (his second wife) – then the rest will be scattered at the arboretum in Illinois. We will hold his memory precious in our hearts.
Barry was a high school friend who dated one of my best friends Josnie Kremer. He always had a smile on his face & I am glad he is not suffering anymore. Great memories of a great high school buddy & friend❤️😘 Judy Saltis Western

This news stunned me. Barry and I were classmates in grade school and high school. I always hoped that we would meet again at a school reunion to talk and laugh together again. RIP, Barry.
I am so saddened at Barry's passing. He was a great friend to me – we shared many moments together. He will always be in mine and Patricia's hearts. The last couple of years were tough for him because of his poor health…now we are assured that he truly knows pure peace. We will miss his friendship and laughter very, very much.
