Belton's obituary:
Belton Sweet, 92, of Canton, TX passed away peacefully into God's graces on May 13th surrounded by family.
Belton was born in Elgin, TX and grew up in the Austin area where he later attended the University of Texas at Austin. As a lifelong member of the Church of God 7th Day, Belton spent many years evangelizing, pastoring, and establishing churches throughout the United States. During this time he also worked as a carpenter. Belton and Bonnie later retired and settled down in Rice, TX where they began a nursery business. They later moved to Ennis, TX and finally Canton, TX where they enjoyed many years of country living.
Belton was predeceased by his parents, Ben and Lucille Sweet, two brothers, Murray and Melvin Sweet, one sister, Lola Sweet McCann and son Wendell Grant Sweet.
Belton is survived by many loving individuals including his beloved wife of 72 years, Bonnie Sweet, three children, Belton (Stan) and his wife Kathy, Marilyn (Kaye) and Winston and his wife Doris Sweet. He left behind eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, many friends and numerous church family members. Belton will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Visitation for Belton Grant Sweet will be Monday, May 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. A Service will be Monday, May 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
